Waterborne Aluminum Paste

Waterborne aluminum paste, also known as water-based aluminum pigment, is developed with the promotion of water-based coatings. Aluminum is an active amphoteric metal element, that easily reacts with water, acid, and alkali. Therefore, when it is applied to a water-based resin system, it must go through special surface treatment. 

The waterborne aluminum pigment is used in general industrial paint and automobile paint and is heavy metal free. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, plasticizers, and benzene series can also be controlled in this kind of pigment.

1. Resin Coated Aluminum Pigment

Resin-coated aluminum paste is based on ordinary aluminum paste, coated with polymer resin after special pre-treatment on the surface of the aluminum sheet. The resin-coated aluminum pigment has excellent acid and alkali resistance, corrosion resistance, excellent electrical insulation (voltage resistance), and storage stability.

2. High-bright Resin Coated Aluminum Pigment

Compared with the R series, the brightness, and covering power of high-bright resin-coated pigment have been significantly improved, while the acid and alkali resistance between them is similar. High-bright resin-coated aluminum pigment is suitable for 3C, ink, and automobile industry with requirements on high color.

3. High-performance Resin Coated Aluminum Pigment

Compared with the R series, high-performance resin-coated aluminum pigment has a higher coating ratio, but slightly lower brightness and covering force. While its acid and alkali resistance performance is significantly improved, it is suitable for industries with high chemical performance requirements.

4. Double-layer Coated Aluminum Pigment

After double coating (organic and inorganic), the coating layer is more compact with excellent solvent resistance and a better storage effect in the UV system. Double-layer coated aluminum pigment is more suitable for the UV industry.

5. Silicon-coated Aluminum Pigment

The surface of silicon-coated aluminum pigment is covered with silica, and the coating thickness is uniform and dense, which can minimize the loss of metal sense. The silicon-coated aluminum pigment is applied in ink painting, baking varnish, plastic paint, automotive OEM coating, architectural paint, etc.

6. Surface Passivation Water-Based Aluminium Paste

Characteristics: Surface passivation water-based aluminum paste is a product made through oxidizing aluminum ions in a special chemical reagent at high temperatures. It can help form a thin oxide layer on the aluminum ion. This kind of paste shows excellent chemical resistance, good covering power, and high whiteness.

Application: Surface passivation water-based aluminum paste is suitable for all kinds of water-based paint and ink printing industries. Customized product is also available.

Suggestions for use: Water dispersant is requested if using water to disperse the pigment. Dilute the paint with solvent (IPA, DPM, PM) at a rate of 1:1, and then mix it at low speed. Put it in resin when it disperses completely.

Products with other particle size can be produced on demand. The recommended addition of 8-10% can be completely covered.

7. Double-coated Water-based Leafing Aluminum Paste

Characteristics: Double-coated water-based leafing aluminum paste is coated by advanced inorganic silicon and organic substances. The particles are fine and uniform, having good floating and hiding power, excellent deposition prevention, and chemical stability. All these make the surface smooth and show a chrome-plated effect in a special resin system. It meets all requirements of EU standards – low odor, low VOC, no naphthalene, and no nonyl phenol.

Application: Double-coated water-based leafing aluminum paste can be used in pigment printing, artwork, and high-class ink printing fields. Customized product is also available.

Suggestions for use: Double-coated water-based leafing aluminum paste has two groups – hydrophilic group and hydrophobic group. Add the product in a suitable solvent at a rate of 1:1, and then mix it at low speed. Put it in resin when it disperses completely.
